Cookie Policy – ALFMED Virtual Clinic

This Cookie Policy explains how MEDNEURO SRL, as operator of the ALFMED Virtual Clinic platform available at https://clinicavirtuala.alfmed.ro, uses cookies and similar technologies.

This Policy supplements the Platform’s Privacy and Data Protection Policy.

The Policy has been prepared in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (“GDPR”), Romanian Law no. 506/2004 on the processing of personal data and the protection of privacy in the electronic communications sector, as subsequently amended, and other applicable legal provisions.

1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small files which may be stored on the User’s device when accessing a website or using an online service.

Cookies may allow, among other things:

• maintaining an active session;
• authentication and operation of the User Account;
• protecting forms and the Platform against cyberattacks;
• temporarily storing information required for the operation of the service;
• protecting the Platform against spam, fraud and automated access.

Some cookies are set directly by the Platform (“first-party cookies”), while others may be set by external providers whose services are integrated into the Platform (“third-party cookies”).

2. Categories of Cookies

2.1. Strictly Necessary Cookies

Strictly necessary cookies are essential for the technical operation, security and provision of services expressly requested by the User.

Such cookies may be used, for example, for:

• maintaining the User’s session;
• authentication;
• operation of forms;
• booking management;
• protection against Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF);
• Platform security;
• prevention of automated and abusive access.

Strictly necessary cookies are not used by MEDNEURO SRL for advertising or marketing purposes.

Prior consent is not requested for such cookies insofar as their use is strictly necessary for the provision of the service requested by the User.

2.2. Preference Cookies

Preference cookies allow certain non-essential User choices to be remembered.

As of the date of this version, MEDNEURO SRL does not intentionally use its own non-essential preference cookies on ALFMED Virtual Clinic.

2.3. Analytics and Statistics Cookies

Analytics cookies are generally used to measure website traffic and analyse how Users interact with a website.

ALFMED Virtual Clinic does not use Google Analytics, its own traffic analytics services or statistics cookies for analysing patient behaviour on the Platform.

2.4. Marketing and Advertising Cookies

Marketing cookies are generally used for behavioural advertising, remarketing or tracking Users across different online services.

ALFMED Virtual Clinic does not use cookies for behavioural advertising, remarketing or marketing campaigns.

Depending on the section accessed and the functionality used, the Platform may use the following cookies:

The list may change as a result of technical updates to the Platform.

MEDNEURO SRL shall update this Policy where technical changes result in the use of new relevant categories of cookies.

4. Google reCAPTCHA

ALFMED Virtual Clinic uses Google reCAPTCHA to protect forms and other Platform functionalities against automated access, spam, fraud and abuse.

In this context, Google may process technical information such as:

• IP address;
• browser type and configuration;
• device information;
• date and time of access;
• information regarding the User’s interaction with the page;
• technical identifiers;
• cookies required for risk analysis.

Google states that the reCAPTCHA service may set the _GRECAPTCHA cookie in order to perform risk analysis.

MEDNEURO SRL uses reCAPTCHA exclusively for Platform security purposes and does not use data obtained through reCAPTCHA for advertising or marketing.

Processing carried out by Google in connection with its own services is subject to the applicable Google policies and terms.

Information concerning international data transfers associated with the use of global service providers is included in the Privacy and Data Protection Policy.

5. Consent to Cookies

Applicable legislation allows cookies to be used without prior consent where they are strictly necessary:

• for the transmission of a communication over an electronic communications network; or
• for providing an information society service expressly requested by the User.

Accordingly, the Platform may place cookies strictly necessary for its operation and security without requesting separate consent.

If MEDNEURO SRL introduces analytics, personalisation, advertising, marketing or other non-essential cookies in the future, they shall not be activated before the User has been provided with an opportunity to express their choice in accordance with applicable law.

In such circumstances, the Platform shall provide an appropriate mechanism allowing the User to:

• accept optional cookies;
• reject them;
• select the desired categories;
• subsequently modify or withdraw their choice.

Refusing optional cookies shall not prevent the use of the essential functions of the Platform.

6. Managing Cookies Through the Browser

Users may view, delete or block cookies through their browser settings.

Depending on the browser, such settings may allow Users to:

• view existing cookies;
• delete individual or all cookies;
• block cookies from specific domains;
• block third-party cookies;
• automatically delete cookies when the browser is closed.

Disabling or deleting strictly necessary cookies may affect the operation of the Platform and may result, among other things, in:

• inability to log in;
• being signed out of the User Account;
• inability to complete a booking;
• improper operation of forms;
• inability to use certain security functions.

Browser settings do not replace the Platform’s consent mechanism where applicable law requires consent for a particular category of cookies.

7. Similar Technologies

The Platform may also use other technologies strictly necessary for its operation, such as:

• session storage;
• security tokens;
• technical identifiers;
• local storage mechanisms required for the application to function.

The same principles regarding transparency, necessity, security and, where applicable, User consent apply to these technologies.

MEDNEURO SRL does not intentionally use such technologies for patient profiling or behavioural advertising.

8. Personal Data and Cookies

Certain cookies and similar technologies may generate or contain identifiers and other information constituting personal data within the meaning of the GDPR.

• Google reCAPTCHA;
• international transfers;

9. Updating the Cookie List

The technical components of the Platform may be updated over time.

Updates to the Platform, nopCommerce, reCAPTCHA or other technical components may change the name, duration or technical characteristics of certain cookies.

MEDNEURO SRL shall periodically review this Policy and update the list where relevant changes are identified.

10. Amendments to this Cookie Policy

MEDNEURO SRL may amend this Policy to reflect:

• legislative changes;
• recommendations or decisions issued by competent authorities;
• technical changes to the Platform;
• changes to service providers;
• the introduction or removal of cookies or similar technologies.

The updated version shall be published on this page and shall indicate the date of the latest update.

Where a change results in the introduction of cookies requiring consent, such cookies shall be managed through the applicable consent mechanism.
